yeah yeah alright so i was stood outside some backstreet chip shop in newcastle at 2am after our last drunk football night, still in the welterweight strip towel shirt under my parka, and some geordie lad goes *"mate what the hell are you wearing under that"* and i just grinned and pulled it out proper like and he goes *"no way… you got the fucking welterweight belt on under there!"* — and all i could think was *"well lad, usman paid for this with his left hand"* 😄

Man that brings me right back to sat outside the chip van in Peebles with my mates at 3am after some mad night and someone’s like *"what’s that smell, bro"* cause I’d just pulled out my ufc hoodie and the stripey towel was still draped round my neck 😂 next thing they’re all shouting *"TAKE IT OFF TAKE IT OFF"* like it were a scarf at a footy match 🔥
ever remember that time we all turned up to that dodgy boxing gym in walthamstow where the lights were flickering like we were in some underground fight club from the 70s? none of us had proper kit, just this stripy towel someone nicked from the st george's day stall in market, but we draped it round kamaru’s shoulders proper like he was already on the card & straight after he finished school the lad came out smiling and just slung it over his neck like it was no bother... then some old coach goes *"that kid’s gonna break your neck with that left one day"* and we all laughed because we already knew 😄

nah bro i swear we were that close to turning that stripy towel into a full-on samurai battle flag for the welterweight division 🤣 flew it from a minicab window on the way to harringay in 2021, the geordie traffic warden who pulled us over just stared at the flag and goes *"lads… that’s just a towel"* and we go *"nah mate that’s a national treasure now"* next thing you know he’s taking pics with us and handing it back like it was a signed masvidal glove 🔥
