Lads, spare me the doom talk about Alex—d'ye see past prime written on his face? This bloke’s still out there busting skulls while some of your so-called “up-and-comers” get stopped cold by stiff leg kicks on Friday nights. You really think a lightweight with “more tricks than heart” is gonna turn up next champ material when they’re busy tapping out to 185lb veterans in their fifth bloody outing?

Give me a bloody break with the "past his prime" label. Red’s opening’s got more cuts in it than a butcher’s floor after Alex walks out of the cage. You’re standing there telling the room that Alex’s fists and heart haven’t changed one bit since he started and now some magic lightweight’s going to tip-toe past every obstacle? That’s like watching a bloke tell you he still walks to work every morning while ignoring the Ferrari parked outside the house.

10lbs of game vs 20lbs of fatigue? nah mate where’s the maths on that bloke?! Alex took on PEDRO over 5 ROUNDS without gasping for breath, dropped him twice n walked out fresher than a daisy while the judges fought over who bloody won that war! tricks? mate we’re talking about a CHAMPION who BUILDS gyms out of hall-of-famers’ chins cos he’s still chasing his own shadow every morning 🙌💪 you think some lightweight’s gonna stroll past that pedigree? you just know the champ feeds off real pain like iron draws heat—fatigue’s his personal sparring partner, he don’t fear it he TAPS IT IN THE FOURTH n strolls home unmarked while the new kid’s on the floor wondering what hit him heart don’t clock off champ time and neither does Alex get in!
Heart with the team, head on pause.

Pedro’s 105th UFC round before Volkanovski stepped in last October—twenty minutes and change on his feet that night, all built on the same cardio bank Alex was chiselling a new notch into. You want to talk about “fatigue” like it’s some invisible stain spreading across a fighter’s career? Watch the footage: Alex finished Pedro’s gas tank by the fourth, then strolled the fifth with half his usual volume but every shot still landing on the button. Now take that lightweight prospect—let’s say Dan Argueta, because why not—the kid’s third five-rounder in nine months last March, coming off three weeks notice when they scraped him off the canvas at Bellator 296. You really want to pit Argueta’s 150th minute of elite-level wear-and-tear against Alex’s fresh-as-when-he-started-war against Holloway in Sydney? Give me a break. Volkanovski’s already lugging three pounds of residual damage every camp and still carves up contenders like they’re featherweight hopefuls on training wheels. If the new champ wears half Alex’s mileage and half his fight IQ, we’ll be lucky—and that’s before you factor in the Chin Shop itself out there every morning.

alex at 145 sure looked old school when he was knocking on woodheads door just to wake them up but it was a different breed then ya know back in my day if you werent wearing a championship belt you were basically training with weights made out of your own doubts and now people handwave the scar tissue like its nothing my first proper cage fight i lost because i thought id just coast on my cardio you see what happens when you think too much? the body follows the mind and then you end up tapping to some veteranos leg kick three rounds in because you never learned how to breathe through the weight of someone else swinging their dreams at you alex? hes still the guy who shows up and outworks the idea that hes past it just ask champbell he walked out of that war feeling stronger than when he walked in and champbell wasnt exactly a spring chicken either this idea that some trickster lightweight is gonna glide past the gatekeepers its cute but have you watched these kids at open gym? most of them flinch when you tap their shoulder let alone throw a roundhouse while alexhes still the one kicking down doors with a sledgehammer dressed as a boxing glove tiredness? nah mate his fatigue’s got a return ticket because it collects interest every time it steps into the cage
Been here longer than some have followed.

Tell me again why we're betting on kids who fold when the real men turn up the heat? Some lightweight with "more tricks than heart" to topple this brickhouse factory? Alex doesn't lose rounds—he loses the judges by beating them into submission while they're still counting the damage, and that’s before we even get to the fact that the bloke walks out of wars looking fresher than when he walked in. You can palm a Ferrari off as a bicycle all you like, but no amount of wishful thinking changes the fact that the current kingpin still makes grown men question their life choices mid-combo.

Ach mate, this whole "past his prime" talk’s got me spitting chips, like some lightweight’s gonna waltz in with a bag of tricks and out-box the bloke who OUT-WORKS THE PAIN every single time? Pete rips into Pedro for five rounds no bother, walks out fresher than a newborn lamb—fatigue? that’s his petrol, he runs on it while the new kids are parked on the stool gasping for air by the second round! You lot keep bleating about "tricks over heart" while our man’s out there in the trenches every morning proving he still eats legends for breakfast, then somehow leaves the cage looking like he’s just had a nap! Lightweights with flashy spins and comedy leg kicks folding to veterans in their fifth fight? mate, that’s NOT our future, that’s our past trying to wear our colours! Alex don’t just show up, he SHOWS OUT, and if some kid thinks he’s gonna magic his way past that engine, they better bring a crash mat AND a counsellor 🙌🔥

Look, let me put it this way—Pedro’s gas tank wasn’t just empty by round four because Volkanovski decided to sleep in that day. That was textbook volume work, year after year, fine-tuning every jab until it hits harder than most fighters’ right hands. The footage doesn’t lie: Alex’s pacing eats through foes like a hot knife through butter, and by round five he’s not tired, he’s *calibrating*—the engine’s still purring, he’s just dialled down the revs to cruise past the ones already wheezing in fifth gear. Now factor in the guy’s living résumé: five-rounders against Hall-of-Fame strikers, then stepping straight into another war a few months later with Holloway in Sydney where the damage he dished out was so clean the judges couldn’t even give it away—cleaner output, same weight class. That’s not “past his prime,” that’s primes stacked like cordwood. But here’s where the debate actually lives: when you stack a lightweight prospect’s mileage against Alex’s—say, Dan Argueta’s Bellator grind at 145 versus the Holloway clinic—you’re measuring apples against a wall. The kid’s had three major wars in nine months with two of them inside five rounds; Alex, meanwhile, just carved up Pedro over five *and* logged nearly two hours of elite-level work in one night without breaking a sweat. The gap isn’t tricks vs heart—it’s accumulated gas versus fresh batteries. So no, the next champ won’t be some kid with spin kicks hiding behind a webcam. He’ll have to earn every inch on the canvas Volkanovski paved, because the throne isn’t waiting for flash—it’s reserved for those who still show up when the world says you’re done. And Volkanovski’s still showing up, only louder.
