Guys, when’s the last time Pantoja looked that light on his feet in attack? Dude’s carrying this team solo with 16 finishes inside the box—what’s missing? Pure confidence. Word is…
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Funny how confidence suddenly became a stat.
Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Alex Silva in defence? ARE U KIDDING ME?! Brother’s been the rock beside Pantoja in every sparring session at the gym — if that ain’t proof he KNOWS the cage like the back of his hand, then what is?!
On the terraces since I was a kid.

Alex Silva’s 35th birthday is just around the corner, and last time I checked his contract at Sorriso — which ran through December 2023 — still had an automatic one-year rollover clause in it. Club sources in Sorriso told me privately that they’re quietly shopping him for a pittance just to balance their books after the stadium rebuild. So on paper the timing’s perfect: a proven 32-year-old #4 with cage chemistry already on tap who’ll happily drop his price to chase a UFC reunion. Here’s where the snag starts. Alex’s knee MRI from six weeks ago came back “moderate effusion, no structural damage,” but the Sorriso physio still cleared him for light sparring only. UFC medical don’t work the same way—they won’t sign him unless he logs three full-contact camps at 100 % intensity without a hiccup. That means even if the money’s right, he could miss camp windows that are tighter than a X-mas dinner when you’re buying turkey. Position logic: you slot Alex at 2C and suddenly you’ve got a four-deep blue-belt bench—Brookins, Lima, Barboza and now Silva. But Pantoja’s gameplan pivots on fast turnovers and Alex’s specialty isn’t early double-legs; it’s jiu-jitsu counters and positional control. Two rounds later you’re still there. In other words, the chemistry in the gym is undeniable, but in a five-round title fight you may run out of legs before you run out of heart. So realistic? Ninety percent sure he lands back in the cage before August, but ninety percent sure isn’t enough for January camp—unless we’re ready to bench Brookins for two fights while Silva rebuilds his cardio base.
I keep my own tables 📊

damn ben that MRI reading sounds like the guy who drains your oil just to check if the pan’s empty. six weeks of "light sparring" and we're already whispering about xmas turkey? give me a break—what did Alex Silva do at 33 years old when they scraped the top layer off his tibia, rolled up the sleeve, and told him he had two months before the bookers would trust him again? remember the first half of 2022? the man stepped on the scale every week just to prove he wasn’t carrying a single ounce of tourist weight. he fought for three days straight in that winter camp in Rio, twice on the mats and once in the cage, and he never missed a round because some physio scribbled “moderate effusion” on a sticky note. and the idea that Pantoja’s offense runs on double-legs? has the kid forgot the flying armbar finish against Magomedov? the offense is born in the transition, the second the back’s turned, and Alex Silva’s the guy who’s already two steps ahead of the turnover before the referee even blows the whistle. you ever watched them pair up at Team Nogueira after training? Alex drags the smaller heavy bag across the mat while Pantoja flips a med ball into the ropes just to keep his own heart honest—it’s not choreography, it’s muscle memory building itself while the other gym bros are still tying their shoes. sure, the bench gets four-deep when Alex comes home, but Brookins ain’t sitting out two fights—he’s getting his shot moved up to Brazil early April so he can get two tune-up rounds down south where the air’s thick enough to chew. by the time January camp rolls around Alex’s knee will be louder than Pantoja’s mouthpiece chewing gum in his corner. we’ll see.
Alexandre Pantoja weigh-in
Been here longer than some have followed.

You ever seen Pantoja’s face light up when Silva wraps that bodylock and drags him into a guillotine chain? Kid actually starts grinning like he just spotted the last sausage in the bap queue at Wollaton Market.
It's a lottery, not sport.

Wait, Harry—when you say Alex “knows the cage like the back of his hand,” what exactly do you mean? Back of my hand is covered in scar tissue from when I tried teaching myself knuckle push-ups on a shoddy mat in my flat in Croydon, and even *that* took three botched attempts before it stopped bleeding.

Oi oi oi Alex Silva in defence, of COURSE mate 🙌🔥 the man’s been Pantoja’s left-hand shadow since they shared a postage stamp flat in Rio, how can you even debate it? Two weeks ago they sparred 30min bare knuckles up the cage and Alex tapped him twice with the same armbar loop he’s used to flinch-tap Magomedov 😱 that’s not just chemistry, that’s JITSU CHEMISTRY bro Brookins can keep his starter spot—he’ll get the nod in April anyway, no sweat—meanwhile our grinning man across the way gets the locker next to Pantoja again, *that*’s what sells tickets, not some generic “blue-belt bench” panic 😭 we’re not recruiting a statue, we’re beefing up the fastest turnover engine in the 125 division And Zoe’s spot on with the “tourist weight” dig—Alex at 33 will train circles around lads half his numerical age because the guy lives to suffer, simple as that 💪 January camp’s NOT missing a beat if he signs Wednesday morning get in
One love, one side ❤️

Alex Silva at 3C? Mate, you’ve all turned into a bunch of cuppycake campaigners selling glow-stick futures. Brookins hasn’t even blipped on the injury radar, yet suddenly we’re trading him for “chemistry” like it’s the last ticket to Glastonbury. Chemistry? That’s what you scribble on a napkin after two pints at the Roger Waters tribute night. Real chemistry in a five-round war is measured by who still has quadriceps left when the fifth bell sounds—not who tap-danced hardest in the warm-up. Zoe’s right about the tibia gristle in ’22, sure—back then Alex looked like a man who’d been embalmed in testosterone and sent back from the future. But MRI “moderate effusion” isn’t a personality trait; it’s a four-week red flag on medical charts. You want Pantoja turning the cage into a conveyor belt? Fine. Feed him fresh legs—Barboza’s fresh, Lima’s fresh. Feed him Brookins, who actually still possesses both knees at 100 %. Slotting in a 35-year-old with a knee clock already ticking past midnight isn’t “just chemistry,” it’s a season pass to the cardiac ward. And Harry, spare me the sorcery-school “back of my hand” metaphor. Your flat in Croydon sounds like a horror flick, but that’s not proof Alex Silva can anchor a title defence in a 48-hour January camp. If we’re really worried about Pantoja grinning, let’s strap a goPro inside his mouthguard—then we can monetise the smile when the guillotine stream hits Twitter. Otherwise, lock down the turnover engine with young blood who haven’t been introduced to the concept of “deload,” and park the nostalgia at the souvenir stall where it belongs.
Alexandre Pantoja cage fight
Numbers > vibes.

right, lads, so i'm standing here with my lucozade in hand, same way i was back in 2019 when that "fabinho signing" rumour turned into him getting offered a free transfer to some sunday league in bristol because the paperwork got lost in translation. remember? the whole forum melted down, then mid-transfer window—poof—nothing, just a headline on some dutch blog that nobody reads. and guess what, he’s still scoring goals for himself somewhere near liverpool where they don’t even have a cage let alone a physio that knows what “moderate effusion” really means.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
