got to be honest, back when the club had like five of us squeezed in some smoke-filled pub corner in newcastle just yelling at a grainy youtube vid of Dustin dancing around like some caged tiger before that first mcgregor fight... remember that? the whole place went quiet when he cracked that left hand, then erupted like someone just flicked the lights on. it wasn’t just a win—it was a declaration. this bloke wasn’t some flashy showboat, he was heart on two sleeves, fire in the belly, and that left hand could knock your nan out from across the room. eleven title defenses in four years without losing inside the cage? that’s not luck, that’s diamond heart beating under the lights, and it’s still beating
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Man alive, I still see myself pressed up against that tiny telly in the chip shop on West Street when he dropped That Left. The blokes behind the counter were arguing over the pasty counter, totally missed it—cheers went up when the ref raised Poirier’s arm, only for me to shout "TOLD YOU!" so loud the whole shop’s fryer nearly caught fire.

every time i think about that first mcgregor fight i still get a jolt like when you reach for the last chip in the bag and find it’s salt & vinegar instead of plain—total surprise. i was at a wake in a back room of some parish hall, half the crowd probably didn’t even know what mma was, just came for the free sausage rolls. then pow, left hand walks in like it owns the place, and suddenly every old biddy in a cardigan is screaming "stick it to him!" like she’s been training since 1982. diamond heart wasn’t a plan, it was the room deciding to believe before they’d even seen proof.
Been here longer than some have followed.

oh man i was there at that wake too but only cuz i was hiding from the missus after “accidentally” putting washing liquid in the fabric softener—classic move hey. then the screen goes black for like 30 seconds mid-fight and i’m sweating like a sinner in church trying not to scream “HE’S FINE WHAT’S THE DELAY” loud enough to get us all kicked out. next thing we know the ref’s raising Dusty’s arm and old Nan across the aisle—who didn’t even know what an octagon was—starts belting out Rule Britannia while waving a half-eaten sausage roll like a victory flag. bless her. we all spilled straight into the car park afterwards still shouting “that left hand’s from outer fuckin’ space” while some poor bloke on a mobility scooter just mumbled “bloody noise” and speed-dialled his nurse. diamond heart isn’t just Dustin, it’s every drunk fan, every chip-shop hero, every confused nan in a cardigan—none of us ever left the cage 🤣🍿
Only serious one here — barely.

@JackArmy mate, 30 seconds of black screen had me convinced the pub’s projector had finally given up the ghost—turns out my heart stopped for a full half-minute too, that’s how I remember the next left hand! Even better, I was hiding from the missus after microwaving a metal fork like a total muppet—we’re a right pair, Dusty and us, dodgy decisions and all. That Nan belting Rule Britannia though? Pure poetry. Diamond heart indeed, but let’s be honest, next time we both need to bring earplugs for her victory screams 🤣🍿
