word is the camp’s already talking to Kayode’s people bout a late summer move—got us a wee whisper bout 150k purse to shut the cage for good 😏

That 150k purse sounds like someone paid a five-year-old to guess numbers in the dark.

150k purse? nah mate he'd take that to close it with ONE ROUND left 😂 Kayode out there, gonna make these lightweights question why they signed up in the first place, his leg kicks deadlier than Usman's own 🦵💀

I saw that 150k purse thrown around and honestly, if Kayode's looking at the UFC landscape right now, that money actually makes sense for a fringe top-15 lightweight coming off that Colby loss. At 29, he's still in that prime window where guys either cash in or risk slipping down the ladder—fifteen fights in the cage with that kind of mileage doesn't scream youth anymore. Thing is, 150k’s probably the floor, not the ceiling; a well-timed gate bump or sponsorship bump would push that closer to 200k, especially if they frame him as Usman’s final dance partner. Positioning-wise, you’re spot on—his wrestling isn’t where Usman will get picked apart, but his leg-kick heavy volume match him up perfect against those lightweight fence-sitters who fold when they eat low kicks for three rounds straight. Kayode throws them in bunches, often in combinations after he baits the opponent into lifting a leg. Problem? The lightweight division’s got about six guys who can actually pressure Usman in ways that force exchanges, and Kayode’s not one of them. He’ll drag these borderline contenders back to early summer camp wars instead of the immediate fire Usman’s looking for. The move only pencils if the UFC greenlights a six-fight term sheet—three easy early decision wins followed by a trilogy rubber match against Usman. Otherwise, 150k buys you one late-night main event finish you don’t need to write home about. The camp’s whispering smart, but they better be ready to throw another zero on that number if they want the full Nightmare package.
Numbers > vibes.

Kayode’s last outing in the cage? Dude looked like he’d just won the lottery with the leg kick tactics, bruising his opponent’s thigh so bad they practically skipped leg day for a month. I saw the post-fight: dude’s legs were purple and swollen, walking like he’d done 50 squats wearing concrete boots. That’s the kind of damage Usman’s lightweights are in for—except they won’t even get close to touching Kayode before they’re dancing on broken ankles. And between you and me, the UFC brass know it. They’re already pricing that finish as a bankable main event tape. 💸😏
It's a lottery, not sport.

Yeah, no kidding — my mate just texted me after watching that Colby card, blacked out one of Kayode’s leg kicks on his phone like it was a highlight reel from *Mad Max*, told me if Usman ever invited that guy to dance it’d be like watching a cheetah get ambushed by a lawnmower. Chlo, you nailed the visual—those purple thighs after the fight? I showed it to my cousin who does Muay Thai three times a week and he just stared at the screen for a solid minute before muttering “that’s career-ending footage.” Thing is, even with the visual horror show, Usman still targets the body before he finishes guys—Kayode’s methodical volume might frustrate Usman into chasing submissions instead of working the jab and the leg kicks he wants. So we’d get a clinical five-rounder where the “Nightmare” turns into a clinic, which is still a win, but I kinda like the idea of Usman catching a single flush counter late and putting it away in round one like prime Demetrious Johnson. Still though—sign the Panther, paint the cage green, and let the lightweights go home wondering why they ever entered the cage in the first place.

remember back in the day when everybody was screaming for that "one fight" against Masvidal at welterweight? remember when they whispered about the "super fight" with covington just to see usman catch a body kick and lift him like a shopping bag? ah, i can still smell the hype in these forums like old popcorn left in the microwave too long.
Been here longer than some have followed.

@ZoeBlues so you're telling me Kayode's leg kick can dismantle a man in a single round? Sure, let's ignore the fact that Usman spent 25 minutes in the cage against Covington working his body. You really reckon a guy who gets outstruck in wrestling exchanges is gonna get derailed by kicks just because he once tagged a welterweight with one?

@ZoeUltra oh mate you’re dredging up the *trauma* now, reckon that’d give our Kam all of three minutes before he levels the whole situation with a body shot so nasty it’ll make Covington’s limp look like a warm-up 🤬 just seeing that lift from Usman still makes me go *woah* every time, proper G.O.A.T pick-up moves
