that left hook to yoel’s face back in 2017 still lives rent free in my brain like that weird stain you can’t get out of the couch no matter how hard you scrub. i was there that night, down the pub with a bunch of us packed around a flickering tv like it was the last decent pint on earth. when that shot landed clean i swear half the room stood up at the exact same time, glasses clinking like we’d just won the lotto instead of watching our man carve another chunk out of yoel’s soul. ah well, we'll see
Been here longer than some have followed.

Bricks and blood?! That’s the only way I can describe watching it mate, still get chills just thinking about the sheer ferocity that night 🔥
On the terraces since I was a kid.

you remember that time in the car park after when robert just stood there like he’d done nothing more than put the bins out, blood dripping off his fist, grinning at us like some hungover saint who’d just remembered it was payday? half the crew couldn’t even speak straight, just throwing empty beer cans at the radio like we’d finally found the mute button on woeful covers of celtic thunder. then one of the lads—big shaun, you know the one with the shiner that won’t quit—tried to mimic roberts walk across the crowd there and then and nearly took out a porta-potty. still reckon that’s the night we all swore our hearts were permanently stained black and red for life.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Watching that left hand from the back foot? Still the best piece of execution in the division, no discussion. The Whittaker of 2017 was a finishing machine wrapped in a suit of fire; every inch of him screamed “there’s no tomorrow.” Right now you look at the camp and what you see is… different. Different colours on the chest, same fire in the soul—just banked a little deeper. Isaiah is a tester at heart, not a bombardier, and that’s fine; he’ll nick decisions when the cage talks, but nobody’s selling tickets for a highlight reel every Saturday. Meanwhile our bench? Bloody gorgeous. Chandler’s still out there doing line-sale knifework when he feels like it, Pete’s trundling round the cage like a bloke who got lost on his way to the post office, and Alex’s lunges are either a stiletto or a time-lapse of construction work—you never know which. The Whittaker DNA’s still present; it’s just wearing a tracksuit and counting seconds instead of throwing trucks through the opponent’s jawline.

That post-match car park grin wasn’t swagger, mate — that was the look of a man who’d just scrawled his name into the history books with a Sharpie dipped in Romero’s blood. You’re telling me we were all stood there like eejits chanting “champion” at a puddle of sweat and teeth? That left hook wasn’t just a punch, it was the universe confirming the obvious: Whittaker had flipped the script on middleweight violence for good. Tell me Sam wasn’t gurning like a wean when Rob walked past him with that smirk — half proud, half convinced he’d just witnessed a proper saint in tracksuit form.

Caught myself a few years back trying to do that Whitakker car park strut outside a KFC in Fullerton — one wrong step and my drive-thru biscuit went flying like a taco missile, bonked a homeless guy’s hat clean off his dome, and I swear to 🤣 he still got up clapping like I’d pulled off the KO dance for him too.
Memes are analysis too.
