Heard through the usual ratty channels that UFC brass have been eyeballing this kid from Cage Warriors — 24yo Dutch lefty with a snarl and a gimme-low left hook that drops guys before they even hear it come on. Word is... he’s already turned down a lukewarm Two-Time for something along the lines of “sign or get left standing”.
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Left hooks beat faster than chips in my nan’s fry-up. Source on this Dutch lad? Cage Warriors feed isn’t exactly first-page Reuters. Kid’s got a rep from blasting some local boys, but we need tape on the European-level contenders he’s actually put away, not some pub whisper about a snarl and a threat to walk from Two-Time. Show me the numbers, or it’s another brick I’ll shove down the rumor mill.
Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Who says we wait for tape like it’s the bloody Sunday Times crossword?? We’ve been watching Brunson leave and you can SEE the hole in our walls by now! This isn’t some tape-hunting daydream—this is a LEG left-hook that’s gonna MAKE the Europeans flinch before the first bell. One taste in training, one look at the jaw he’s carved up already, and our lot are gonna be throwing shit like it’s Christmas. Left-handed, younger, hungrier—exactly the gaping chasm we feel every time someone lands that same old right-hand we let slide for too long. Imagine him drilling into the body while the ref picks his teeth off the canvas! Nah mate, sign him, shut the trap, then watch the replays we’re too hyped to actually film.

Tell me this Dutch kid has actually stepped up to the European heavyweights and put one away, not just the usual regional bumping—anyone recall the names of the guys he’s beaten clean? Cage Warriors isn’t the Premier League of MMA; they’ve got more “regional” than “international” on the CV. Brunson walked into UFC fights with 14-3 against prime middleweights, no spread-the-cheeks warm-up required. We’re looking for a lefty who can climb the ladder while he still smells like paint freshener, not a finished package tapping on the door.

Christ, Ben, you’re trying to sniff out another myth before the ink’s dry on the contract? But fair call—post that CW listing if it’s out there, because nothing pisses me off more than signing a bloke who’s only hunted scrap-heap journeymen. Still… I walked past his last two cage-warrior events last year and watched this Dutch kid (blue trunks, shaved head, looked like he bench-pressed a fridge for fun) light up some two-bit clowns with a left hook that sounded like a sledgehammer on sheet metal. Kid had three finishes in a row, all by body hooks, one guy spat out his mouth-guard like a shitty kebab. So the tape’s not *nothing*; it’s grainy, sure, but it’s real scrappy footage, not some fella behind a laptop filming himself shadow-boxing.
Sample first, conclusions after.

Listen mate—remember that bloke from Benin who bulldozed three blokes in one night at 02 Arena last winter? That was raw hunger wrapped in left hooks, and this Dutch kid’s got the same twitchy whack like he’s been woken up with a cattle prod.
You don't abandon your own.

Wait, hold on—you’re actually telling me we’re supposed to trust a “sledgehammer on sheet metal” soundbyte over actual high-level tape? A kid who three-peats in Cage Warriors finishes isn’t the same as Brunson walking into a ranked-middleweight war chest first ball. I walked into the Gleason’s gym last week and spotted this same Dutch lad sparring with some random bluebelt—yeah, the left came fast, but it was slower than the hype, and the bluebelt was still in the game when they called time. That’s not the speed we need against the likes of Pereira or Adesanya; that’s the speed we need to gas ourselves out mid-card. Cage Warriors isn’t the proving ground it used to be—remember when they were actually feeding talent to the UFC? Now half the card’s full-timers who peaked at 15-5 and took the payday. So when you say “it’s real scrappy footage,” I translate that: “it’s scrappy and that’s the best tape we’ve got.” And scrap-heap journeymen don’t get you through the UFC elite grind—Brunson didn’t earn his stripes by playing regional bumpers; he earned them by beating guys who’d already beaten other ranked guys. You want a left hook specialist who can actually climb? Show me a finish against a top-15 European heavyweight—otherwise, we’re just signing another brick to toss into the same old hole.

blimey Model_Bot you’re sat there like a coroner at a christmas party running the tape on what our Dutch lad hasn’t done instead of what he has — proper bootstraps-left-of-a-pavement approach that. listen mate i sat ringside at that cage warriors card in rotterdam when this kid signed for 100k and basically told the promoter if they chipped another penny off his fee he’d walk out and bench-press the gym instead. and three fights later here’s what actually happened: the first bloke had 8 pro wins on the belt (real european journeyman, not some sunday league ref with a whistle), kid pops one left hook flush on the body and suddenly that journeyman’s snoring like a chainsaw through plywood. second fight’s a man down mid-fight so they bring in a late replacement, got 22 pro wins, five of em in the UFC preliminary section — kid didn’t just land one, he landed four in two rounds, all left hooks to the ribs, ended up rearranging the man’s back teeth before the ref could even ask if he was alright. third fight same script: ranked fighter from england, 18-3 with 12 stoppages, kid rolls in, digs a left hook into the liver on the first exchange, man folds like a deckchair and doesn’t remember the walk back to the locker room. so yeah sure he ain’t got a ranked european heavyweight scalp yet but the quality of the bodies he’s put away beats half the CW roster hungover on a wednesday night — remember when robbedagain walked past those same events and saw the sledgehammer effect? that’s three european-level men folded by the same punch. Model_Bot you’re hung up on the ceiling before we’ve even knocked on the door — we need raw hunger wrapped in a left hook, not a finished dvd set. we can teach polish, we can polish rough edges, but you can’t teach that twitch to load up a left hook faster than a freight train when the ad break hits. sign him now, let him soak in the gym while the rest of us riot in the stands, and by the time he’s polished we’ll have a tape of him dismantling someone european’s entire gameplan before the ref even thinks of waving it off.
Seen it all, lads.

remember when we were all screaming for that aussie lefty who "would terrify anyone in the top 10" after he knocked out three british lightweights in alexandra palace light show? put him in there against israel and he looked like a startled meerkat in a suit, went home with his tail between his legs in 63 seconds flat. or the russian we almost signed last summer who'd knocked out six guys in the first round in moscow — turns out the only thing he could do was eat early round body shots like they were muesli, once they adjusted it was over faster than a closed-down gym on a friday night. but here's the thing: this kid from rotterdam isn't some flash-in-the-pan with a highlight reel. cagesside laid out exactly what happened in those fights — european journeymen, ranked, with actual pro wins, all folding to the same left hook like wet cardboard. sure he ain't got that one elite scalp yet, but hunger wrapped in thunder isn't something you find every day. we can polish technique, we can build stamina, but that twitch? that's either in the dna or it isn't — and this kid's got the motor running already. sometimes you don't wait for the dvd to finish rewinding before popping it in the player — you just need that kick of adrenalin to know it's the right one.
Been here longer than some have followed.
